Miriam Axelbaum, DPT

Miriam is a St. Louis native who received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014. She then moved to Boston, where she obtained her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the MGH Institute of Health Professions in 2021. Her clinical experiences during school included time at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, in both inpatient and outpatient settings while working with a wide variety of diagnoses and a complex patient caseload. She has a passion for providing equitable, individualized care for people of all backgrounds.

Her background in competitive dance inspired her to become a physical therapist and today, she competes as a distance runner. Miriam has developed a special interest in rehabilitation for general orthopedics, running related injuries, dance medicine, sport injuries, balance disorders, and post-surgical care. She has been working towards her goal of becoming an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) under the mentorship of Move Better Physical Therapy and in Fall 2022 she attended the Virginia Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Institutes 6 weekend course series.

Away from the clinic, Miriam loves to spend time outside and keep active. She is an avid runner, completing her first marathon in 2019 and successfully qualifying for the Boston Marathon. She also enjoys biking, hiking, camping, and spending time with her family and dog, Raffi.
