Please welcome Kate Wason DPT, SCS to our practice!
Kate received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the College of William and Mary in 2011. After a year spent coaching runners, cyclists, and triathletes toward new PR’s, she went on to earn a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from UVA in 2015, and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Duke University in 2018.
In 2019, Kate completed the Sports PT Residency at Virginia Commonwealth University, during which she had the privilege of caring for VCU’s Division 1 athletes both on the field and in the clinic. She worked especially closely with VCU Women’s Soccer, guiding their best players back to the field after injuries and surgeries. She is also trained in orthopedic manual therapy through the Virginia Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy Institute (VOMPTI). She earned her Board Certification as a Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy (SCS) through the APTA in 2020.
Kate grew up outside of Philadelphia and is having a blast exploring Charlottesville with her husband, Matt, and their dog, Gryffin. She enjoys swimming, cycling, running, and hiking, and all kinds of outdoor adventures.
At Move Better Physical Therapy her advanced training helps her patients resolve sports injuries of the upper and lower extremity. She has a special interest in treating runners and young athletes. In addition, Kate is a highly skilled clinician ready to help patients with chronic and acute back pain; shoulder impingement and rotator cuff injuries; balance training; and post-surgical care of the shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle.
We are thrilled to have Kate join our team and look forward to sharing her expertise with our patients! Please call Move Better to set an appointment to see Kate today.
